Description

Echeveria affinis is a species of plant in the genus Echeveria ( Echeveria ) in the succulent family (Crassulaceae). The specific epithet affinis comes from Latin, means 'related' and refers to an assumed but not correct relationship with another taxon. Echeveria affinis usually grows to a height of up to 5 centimeters and develops sprouts only slowly. The leaf rosettes are 6 to 8, sometimes up to 22 centimeters in diameter. The broadly lanceolate and short pointed leaves are 3.4 to 7, sometimes up to 11 centimeters long and 1.1 to 2.4, sometimes up to 4 centimeters wide. They are green to almost black in color and have an almost flat surface. The 20 to 30, sometimes up to 40 centimeters high inflorescence forms flattened cymes at the upper end. These have three to five sprawling branches, each with four to ten individual flowers. The petals are up to 8 millimeters long, the sepals are pressed. The scarlet corolla is blunt pentagonal in shape, 10 millimeters long and about 8 millimeters in diameter at the throat. The chromosome number is 2n = 60. Echeveria affinis is distributed in the Mexican states of Durango and Sinaloa. thefirst descriptionwhat in 1958 byEdward Eric Walther. A variant form ofCerro Surotato exists. This has longer shoots, larger and greener leaves and a more spreading flower panicle than the species.
