Description

Cucumeropsis is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family. It is a climbing or crawling plant , robust, ramosa. It produces vines up to 4 m long, which are covered with rigid hairs. Heart-shaped leaves or approximately slaps are up to 12 cm long and 14.5 cm wide. Petioles 20 to 90 mm long and 1.5 to 3 mm in diameter. It presents tendrils. Yellow flowers, staminated and pistillate, with bracts from 1 to 3 mm. Fruits of cream color with green stripes, ovoid, endorsed to elongated, 7 to 20 cm long by 5 to 16 cm in diameter; with seeds of 12 to 19 mm by 7 to 8 mm. It is found in flooded places, gallery forest and in the rainforest, in the savannah with Pennisetum , in fallow land, and in clearings, at an altitude of 1150 meters .
