Description

Caperonia palustris is an annual herb of the Euphorbiaceae family. Annual grass, h-spida, that reaches until 2 m of height. Its stem is erect with hollow internodes and its alternating leaves, with serrated margins, are lanceolate and petiolate. It has small, matted stipules. The inflorescences are auxiliary spikes with unisexual flowers, the masculine being unmistakable, as they have 10 stamens , 5 green sepals and 5 white petals, three larger at the top and two smaller at the bottom, giving the flower a single plane Of symmetry ( zygomorph ). The female flower has 5 green sepals , upper ovary with 3 attached carpels , each with only one seed.
