Description

Latouchea fokienensis is the only species of the monotypic genus Latouchea belonging to the Gentianaceae family, it is native to China where it is found in Fujian in the mountains at a height of 2000 meters. The plants reach a size of 15-30 cm in height. They have short and stout rhizomes, with long rootlets. Stems erect, cylindrical, striated, simple. Basal leaves petiolate; Limb obovate-spatulate, 8-10 × 3-6 cm including petiole, narrow base, entire or slightly wavy margin, rounded apex, pinnate veins. Sessile stalk leaves, spatulate, 1.5 to 2.5 cm × 10.7 mm, rounded base, entire margin, obtuse apex, pinnate veins. The erect inflorescences, cylindrical rachis, striated, simple, 3 mm wide when pressed; meticulously furry nodes. Pedicel of 8-10 mm; bracts 2 per flower, linear-lanceolate, 5-7 mm. Capsules, ovoid-conic, from 1,5 to 1,8 cm. Seeds dark brown, 1,3-1,6 mm.
