Description

perennial with erect stems 20-50cm tall.Leaves 5-28mm long,elliptic to linear,cordate to cuneate.Flowers 2-5cm across,the petals usually with numerous black glands (not usually present in H.olympicum), in terminal clusters,summer.Turkey,in sandy and stony places in the open and amongst scrub,usually in calcareous soils.A variable species in the wild,some of the variants similar to H.olympicum. Except in a few botanic gardens,plants under this name are invariably H.olympicum.
