Meadows and piornales, humid and sunny hills. Indicator of the province Carpetano-Ibérico-Leonesa. From 1200 to 2000 meters above sea level. It grows in corrosion near melting snow. Geophyte. Northwest of France, center and north of Portugal. In Spain in the Central System ( Sierra de Gredos, Guadarrama ) and the Cantabrian Mountains. Crocus carpetanus was described by Boiss. & Reut. and published in Diagnoses Plantarum Novarum Hispanicarum 24. 1842.
