Freesia hybrida

Description

It is the flower of the "Fresia" grown in the gardens. It is a complex hybrid based on interspecific hybridizations between Freesia refracta , F. leictlinii , F. corimbosa and other species of the genus, of which hundreds of commercial cultivars have been obtained. Modern cultivars are tetraploid and display single or double flowers, bright colors (pure white, yellow, pink, orange, red and blue), although the fragrance in them is less intense than in the original species.
