Description

Castilleja scorzonerifolia is a plant of the family of scrofulariaceae. It is an herb with erect stems that reaches a size of 25 to 50 cm in height covered with harsh and sharp hairs. The leaves are elongated as spatulas, are numerous and their flowers are grouped in spikes, are bright orange with green and showy. The fruits are capsules that open when they are dry; The seeds are long and brown. Native to Mexico, it lives in warm, semi-warm, semi-dry and temperate climates between 1000 and 2400 meters above sea level, associated with rainfed croplands, tropical deciduous and sub-deciduous forests, xerophilous scrub , thorny forest, mountain mesophilic forest ; forests of oak , pine and mixed pine-oak.
