Description

Stems 20-70cm tall, the plant glabrous throughout. Leaves thick and firm, the basal ones up to 15cm long, oblanceolate to ovate. Flowers bright blue, 1.8-2.8cm long. Open places, in well-drained, often rather sandy and gravelly soil, from the valleys and foothills to moderate elevations in the mountains in Idaho from the Salmon River axis to the margin of the Snake River Plains and in the Wallowa mountains of Oregon. Little known in cultivation.
