Fargesia yunnanensis

Description

Fargesia yunnanensis is a clump-forming, evergreen bamboo that can grow 4 - 7 metres tall; the erect, woody culms are 30 - 60mm in diameter with internodes 28 - 36cm long. The basal internodes are solid, the upper internodes are hollow. The plant spreads slowly by means of short rhizomes, eventually forming quite a large, dense clump. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of materials
