Description

Monanthochloe is a genus of monocotyledonous plants of the family Poaceae , subfamily Chloridoideae ,native to America , which includes three species . Some authors classify these species in the genus Distichlis . They are perennial, rhizomatous and stoloniferous herbaceous plants , small (with stems up to 5 to 20 cm high), with an ericoid habit. The inflorescences are reduced to a single spikelet . Species of this genus are dioecious , each plant bearing only spikelets of the same sex, male or female
