Neesiochloa barbata is a grass species first described by Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck, and now became known as Pilg. Neesiochloa barbata is part of the genus Neesiochloa and the family grass Neesiochloa is a genus of Brazilian plants in the grass family. The only known species is Neesiochloa barbata, native to eastern Brazil (Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Piauí)
