Is a genus of herbaceous plants belonging tothe Poaceae family ,with a natural distribution in the subtropical climate regions of the Northern Hemisphere , being present in Eurasia , North Africa and North America , but several species of the genus were introduced in several regions Of both hemispheres where they are naturalized.
