They are perennial tussock with stems 30-90 cm tall;herbaceous;not branched up.Cane with glabrous nodes.Solid culm internodes.Unarmed plants..Young intravaginal shoots with mostly basal leaves;not auriculadas.The leaf of the linear leaf (hard,glauca);narrow;generally folded;without abaxial multicellular glands;without venation;rolled in the yolk.Lígula presente;a fringed (narrow) membrane;truncated;0.3 mm long.Counter-ligula absent.Bisexual plants,with bisexual spikelets and hermaphrodite flowers
