Description

Triplophyllum is a genus of ferns belonging to the family Tectariaceae. They are plants with terrestrial or rupicolous habits; with long rhizome , creeping, 3-5 mm wide, scaly; petiole with more than 3 vascular bundles in cross section, scaly, lanceolate scales, dark, patent, cells with partial to fully occluded lumens; blade 20-60 cm, broadly delta-pentagonal, tripartite, 2-4-pinnate; basal basiscopic pinna 2-4 times greater than the acroscopic pinnules; terminal segments rounded at the apex, asymmetric at the base, the corky narrowed basiscopic side; shafts with Ctenitis type trichomes 0.1-0.3 mm adaxially; free ribs; round soros; indusium round, inserted by the breast, brown or glossy black, glandular or puberulent; 2-side spores with thin translucent wings; has a chromosome number of x = 41.
