Europe's Galileo satellite system will soon be complete

07-24-2018

Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency discusses the upcoming launch of four more satellites to Europe’s Galileo global navigation satellite system on July 25, which will bring the program very close to its completion.

The first test satellite, GIOVE-A, was launched in 2005, while the first operational component was sent up in 2011. The complete Galileo system, which will have a total of 30 satellites, is expected to be fully operational in 2019 and completed the following year.
