THappy 4th from the International Space Station oday’s Video of the Day from NASA features astronauts Chris Cassidy, Bob Behnken, and Doug Hurley honoring the 244th birthday of the United States on the International Space Station.

“Even though we are living during unprecedented challenging times, the spirit and resolute will of our country and all Americans has never been stronger as we give thanks for the freedom and the bounty of riches our nation provides all of us,” said Hurley.

Behnken is holding “Old Glory,” a flag that was launched on the very first space shuttle mission in 1981 and will be flown again when American astronauts journey to the Moon on the Orion spacecraft.

The ISS also know as the International Space Station is a large spacecraft. It orbits around Earth. It is a home where astronauts live. The space station is also a science lab. Many countries worked together to build it. They also work together to use it. The International Space Station is an orbiting laboratory and construction site that synthesizes the scientific expertise of 16 nations to maintain a permanent human outpost in space.
