NASA helps assess impacts of extreme weather

08-27-2020

Today’s Video of the Day from NASA describes the role of Earth-observing satellites in helping farmers in Central America cope with the disproportionate effects of climate change, including extreme weather events.

On the Pacific Coast of Central America, the Dry Corridor extends from southern Mexico to Panama. In this region, the livelihoods of farmers are increasingly threatened by extreme weather and severe droughts.

Rural communities in Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador have been hit particularly hard.
