Scientists work to improve fire prediction models

09-07-2019

Today’s Video of the Day from Brigham Young University describes ongoing research which aims to create faster wildfire prediction models.

The scientists are looking into the details of how fires are initiated to provide more insight into how they burn.

“We are working on a small scale and hopefully that gives us some insight into what happens on a large scale,” said fire expert Professor Thomas H. Fletcher. “We’re trying to take some of the unpredictability out of fire by doing experiments in well-controlled environments.”
