Today’s Video of the Day by The Ocean Cleanup gives us a closer look at the innovative technological solution to plastic ocean litter that we have previously reported on.

1.8 trillion pieces of plastic are floating at the surface of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which would take thousands of years to clean up using conventional methods. The proposed system could clean up half of the region in only five years by sweeping up plastic garbage using wind, waves, and currents, while allowing for marine life to safely pass below.
