The Frankfurt Rhine-Main region of Germany

11-14-2020

Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency features the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region in south central Germany.

This region is home to almost six million people and includes the cities of Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Offenbach.

The European Space Operations Center (ESOC), the main mission control center for the ESA, can be found in Darmstadt. Frankfurt spreads across both sides of the Main River. The Frankfurt City Forest is the largest inner-city forest in Germany.

The Rhine River flows in a northerly direction through Germany and the Netherlands before emptying into the North Sea.
