Description

The earwig giant or scissors of St.Helena ( Labidura herculeana Fabricius,1798 ) was an earwig spread only on the island of St.Helena,in ' Atlantic Ocean south.He could reach 8.5 cm in length,making it the largest dermattero then existing.The body was stocky and flattened,of a glossy black color with iridescent reflections;legs tended to red,the elytra eano rather short,while the wings were entirely absent.
