Description

The dodo or dronte ( Raphus cucullatus,Linnaeus 1758 ) was a columbiform bird of the Columbidae family,endemic to the island of Mauritius.He was unable to fly,fed on fruit and nested on the ground.It quickly became extinct in the second half of the seventeenth century following the arrival on the island of the Portuguese first and then the Dutch.
