Rough-toothed dolphin

Description

The narrow-nosed or rough-toothed dolphin ( Steno bredanensis ) is a species of cetacean odontocete of the family Delphinidae,the only one of the genus Steno.Steno comes from the Greek "reduce",referring to the short snout of the species.The characteristic features of this dolphin is its conical head and slender nose.It has a pronounced dorsal fin.The snout,throat and belly are white-pink.The flanks are light gray.The back and dorsal fin have a dark gray color.It measures around 2.5 m in length and weighs about 150 kg.It has 20 to 27 teeth in each row and they have wrinkles and vertical ridges,tenuous but detectable.For this character it is called the dolphin with rough teeth.
