Galapagos fur seal

Description

The Galápagos fur seal ( Arctocephalus galapagoensis ) is the smallest species among all fur seals.It reproduces on the Galápagos Islands,in the eastern Pacific,and is therefore the only fur seal to reproduce in tropical watersThe fur seals of the Galápagos have a color that varies from gray to brown.Adult males are 1.5 m long and weigh about 64 kg.Females measure 1.2 m in length and weigh 28 kg.They spend more time out of the water than almost any other pinnipede.On average,70% of their time is spent on the ground.Most species of pinnipeds spend 50% of their time on land and 50% in water.
