(Strongylura krefftii)
The long tom or freshwater longtom (Strongylura krefftii) is a species of euryhaline needlefish native to Northern Australia and Papua New Guinea.: The fish grows to a maximum length of 85 cm and has a silvery, diverse range of coloration, ranging from bronze to olive green. Long toms hunt near the surface of the water, preying on fish, insects, and small animals. As with other species of needlefish, they are very dangerous due to their sharp rostra, which have been known to impale victims.
