Description

The Tenasserim muntjak ( Muntiacus feae Thomas and Doria,1889 ),also called Fea muntjak,is a species of Muntjak ( Muntiacus ) Cervidae native to Myanmar and Thailand.Its scientific name commemorates the Italian naturalist Leonardo FeaThe Tenasserim muntjak reaches a head-body length of 88 cm,a height at the withers of 50-55 cm and has a tail of 10 cm.The weight is around 22 kg.The upper part is dark brown with beautiful yellow spots.The lower one is brown in color,sometimes with lighter areas.The legs and hooves are black.White stripes are clearly visible on the front part of the hind legs.The sides of the face are dark brown.The top of the head,the base of the horns and the ears are brownish-yellow,apart from a black strip that extends over the eyes on the inside of the base of the horns.The short tail is black on the upper part and white on the lower part.The tusks and lacrimal glandsthey are well developed.The horns are relatively short.
