(Oreochromis urolepis)
The Wami tilapia (Oreochromis urolepis) is a tilapiine cichlid native to African countries, but now found in many countries due to its use as a food fish. Males of this species reach 44.0 cm (17.3 in) in standard length. It is a freshwater, and brackish benthopelagic species of tilapia, which has high value as a food, and also as an aquarium fish. The two subspecies, geographically separated, are: - O. u. hornorum (Trewavas, 1966) (Wami tilapia) - O. u.urolepis (Norman, 1922) (Rufigi tilapia)
