(Archaeolacerta bedriagae)

Description

The Bedriaga lizard has a flattened body,7-8 cm long, and a tail about twice as long. The total length is therefore 20-24 cm.The head is very long and wide, the eardrum is well evident. The scales are smooth, large on the belly and small on the back. The color changes as the subspecies vary, but also from individual to individual: the background color goes from blue-black to olive and brown and has gray, green, blue or yellow spots. The nominal subspecies has a more uniform coloring, while the Sardinian subspecies have more lively colors and a brownish or golden head. The ventral parts are clear, with varying shades, usually whitish or greenish. The shape of the garment and the color make it easy to recognize.
