Description

The momoto cowling ( Electron carinatum ) is a species of bird coraciforme of family Momotidae.He is a native of Belize,Costa Rica,Guatemala,Honduras,Mexico and Nicaragua.Its habitat consists of subtropical and tropical moist forest.It is considered a threatened species due to the continuous reduction of its habitat.It does not have recognized subspecies.On average it measures 32 cm in length and weighs 65 g.The plumage of the upper parts is green.The forehead is rufa,with superciliary lists bright blue,black mask and blue-green chin.It has a large black spot on the chest;the belly has yellowish tones and cinnamon.The rooster feathers and wheelhouse are bluish greenish.
