Belding’s yellowthroat

(Geothlypis beldingi)

Description

The Belding golagialla is a relatively large parulis (about 14 cm in length),with a long tail and a plumage with colorful colors. The male is an olive-green bird with bright yellow lower regions, and a showy black mask covering the forehead and sides of the face. The mask is surrounded by a thin yellow border, while the beak is black and the legs are pink. The female has no mask, and has an olive-colored head, with a clear ocular ring,a clear line above the eye,and a dark brown beak. The lower regions of the female are yellow, faded brown on the hips and whitish on the lower part of the abdomen. Two distinct subspecies of Baging's golagialla are recognized,G.b.beldingi and G.b.goldmani the latter differs mainly due to the dullest coloring and often has more whitish tones on the lower part of the abdomen and a more whitish or cream-colored border around the male mask.Belding's golagialla is very similar in appearance to the common golagialla ( Geothlypis trichas),but it is distinguished by its larger size, the longer and thicker beak, the lower regions with the more yellow tones and the yellow border around the mask of the male, while the female presents a more distinctive facial design and a more feathered plumage.brilliant
