It is endemic to the United States, where it is limited to Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. It is a rare species throughout its range and in 2014 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued a final rule protecting it under the Endangered Species Act.Short’s bladderpod is a plant in the mustard family. It grows up to 20 inches tall. Clusters of small yellow flowers top single and sometimes multiple stems from April to early June. The scientific name of the plant is derived from the globe-shaped fruits it produces.
