01-25-2018

How 2017 became the second hottest year on record today’s Video of the Day comes from NASA Goddard and features a look at how 2017 became the second hottest year on record.

The record books date back to 1880, when global measurements first became possible to attain and monitor.

As we had previously reported, 2016 currently holds the title for hottest year ever, having broken the record previously held by 2015 and continuing a decades-long trend of global warming. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration may have a boring name, but it has a very important job: It measures U.S. temperatures.
