Alexander Gerst can see the Earth's fragility from space

12-10-2018

Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency features a message from astronaut Alexander Gerst, who is onboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The video was recorded to mark the start COP24, the UN Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland.

Gerst explained how the fragility of the Earth, as well as the influence of human activities, can be seen in plain sight from space.

“It is crystal clear from up here that everything is finite on this little blue marble in a black space, and there is no planet B,” he said.
