Fluid lensing may revolutionize marine research

08-12-2018

Today’s Video of the Day from NASA Science News describes the tools that are being created by scientists to improve our understanding of what is taking place beneath the ocean’s surface.

One technique, known as fluid lensing, will correct for refraction and enable scientists to get an unobstructed view for obtaining more accurate underwater measurements.

NASA scientist Ved Chirayath has developed a special underwater camera known as FluidCam, which will initially be focused on coral reefs to examine how they are affected by human and environmental stressors.
