How healthy cells become sick with Alzheimer's

05-29-2019

Today’s Video of the Day from the Van Andel Research Institute describes what makes healthy cells become sick among individuals who develop Alzheimer’s disease.

“We now have a better understanding of the molecular factors that lead to Alzheimer’s disease, which we can leverage to develop improved and desperately needed treatment and prevention strategies,” said study senior author Dr. Viviane Labrie. “Alzheimer’s is a major growing public health problem around the world. We need better options for patients and we need them soon.”

The study is published in the journal Nature Communications.
