Improving protective gear for COVID-19 first responders

06-16-2020

Today’s Video of the Day from the National Science Foundation (NSF) describes efforts to better safeguard first responders on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the help of NSF RAPID research grants, scientists at the University of Central Florida and Northwestern University are working to improve the efficiency of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The researchers are developing a protective coating for gloves, masks, and other medical gear, as well as self-sanitizing face masks, that can instantly deactivate viruses.
