Measuring ice sheet elevation in uncharted territory

02-26-2020

Today’s Video of the Day comes from NASA Goddard and features a look at scientists who have traveled to the South Pole to measure ice sheet elevation along a previously undocumented route.

Researchers will explore along 300 kilometers of the remote and uncharted icescape to gather the measurements.

The data will help chart the upcoming global ICESat-2 mission, which is set to measure the height of Earth from orbit.
