New clues on the ancient past of Earth’s continents
Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency shows the separation of Antarctica and Australia from ancient Gondwana.
The Gravity field and Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) mission orbited Earth for more than four years, collecting the most accurate measurements of the planet’s gravitational pull that have ever been obtained.
Although the GOCE mission ended five years ago, the satellite data is providing experts with a new perspective on how Earth’s continents looked millions of years ago.
