Orange County, California from space

12-16-2017

Today’s Video of the Day comes from the European Space Agency’s Earth From Space series and features a look at Orange County, California.

These images were captured by the Sentinel-1 radar satellite mission and show the coastal plains of the Los Angeles basin in the upper left, along with the Santa Ana Mountains running through the middle.

The Santa Ana Mountains have a more moist western slope and a dry eastern slope due to air masses from the Pacific bringing rain to land until the mountains block them from moving further east.
