Scientists successfully reverse paralysis in mice

04-16-2017

Today’s Video of the Day comes from the American Chemical Society and features a look at how scientists have successfully reversed paralysis in mice.

Paralysis occurs when the body’s immune system turns against the the protective layer that covers neurons in the brain. But now, a team of researchers have developed a new experimental treatment that tames this immune system malfunction in mice and actually restores movement.

Scientists hope to use this methodology to one day treat autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis and type-1 diabetes.
