Investigating how solar flares impact Earth

Today’s Video of the Day comes from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and features a look at how solar flares impact Earth.

Solar flares are a brief but potent burst of radiation caused by the release of magnetic energy from sunspots. They can be seen as bright spots on the sun that can last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.

Now, a team of scientists have investigated how solar flares affect the ionosphere.
