Measuring South Pole ice sheet elevation

12-25-2017

Today’s Video of the Day comes from NASA Goddard and features a look at scientists measuring ice sheet elevation in the South Pole.

The NASA team will be observing a route that has never before been documented.

The data will be used to improve the upcoming global laser altimeter mission ICESat-2, which will measure the height of the planet from orbit.
