Studying organisms in the ocean’s “twilight zone” Today’s Video of the Day from NASA Goddard describes the Export Processes in the Ocean from Remote Sensing (EXPORTS) oceanographic campaign, which was just launched in the northeastern Pacific Ocean.

Over 100 scientists and crew from nearly 30 research institutions will use two research vessels, a range of underwater robotic platforms, and satellite imagery to study microscopic algae, or phytoplankton, in a region of deep ocean off the coast of Seattle that is referred to as the “twilight zone.”
