Tourism is very important to the unique Azores islands, and São Miguel is the most popular for its strikingly beautiful attractions, including beaches, waterfalls, and volcanic craters. São Miguel Island is Portuguese for ” Saint Michael “), nicknamed “The Green Island” and is the largest and most populous island in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores.
