The recovery of Lake Meredith

12-13-2018

Today’s Video of the Day from the United States Geological Survey features the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, which is named for its surrounding water body in the Texas Panhandle.

In this video, Landsat images show how the lake was transformed by a rush of water in 2017 after about a decade of drought.

From 2013 to 2018, the surface area of Lake Meredith nearly doubled in size.
