The island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea

02-22-2021

Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency features Sardinia, a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea.

The island is located west of the Italian Peninsula, north of Tunisia, and just south of the French island of Corsica.

The false-color image of Sardinia was processed using the shortwave infrared band and the near infrared band to highlight crops and vegetation, which appear in bright green.

Sardinia is a predominantly mountainous region that has over 1,800 kilometers of coastline along the Emerald Coast, or Costa Smeralda, Alghero, and Villasimius.
