01-12-2019

Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency features the Uruguay River wetlands from space.

The wetlands, which include lagoons, swamps, and 24 islets, provide a special habitat for wildlife and are protected as a national park.

The region provides a home to 130 species of fish, 14 species of amphibian, 104 species of bird, and 15 species of mammal.

This image was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2B satellite on August 17, 2018.
