Cyclone Debbie slams into Australia

Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the European Space Agency and features a look at Cyclone Debbie slamming into Australia’s eastern coast.

The photo was captured on March 27, 2017 by the Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite’s Ocean and Land Colour Instrument.

Cyclone Debbie has caused severe flooding and evacuations of tens of thousands of people in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland. The Category 4 storm battered the region with up to 16 inches of rain in one day, along with wind gusts of up to 160 miles per hour.
