Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at heavy snow and low clouds in the Alps.

This winter, many parts of the Alps have received record high levels of snowfall. One village in Switzerland reported that as much as 10 feet of snow fell in seven days.

The image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite.
